And here is where everything else is at…. General 16
Welcome to the Compost Bulletin, hosted in Rochester, Minnesota. Rochester, a city of 120,848, is located in Olmsted County in the southeast corner of the “land of 10,000 lakes”. Ironically, Olmsted County is one of the 4 counties in Minnesota that has zero natural lakes. However, it has transformed several sand and gravel mines into newly minted “lakes”.
Rochester is home to the “world-famous” Mayo Clinic. Mayo Clinic is the top medical research facility in the country. It has 68,000 employees (5,500 doctors and scientists and 62,500 administrative and support staff). Rochester is home to 46,000 of those employees. The median household income is $83,973 per year, $65,003 per capita. It is a prosperous city, but its prosperity is precariously derived from a single source. Without Mayo Clinic Rochester would barely exist.
